The programme
You’ll earn your stripes working alongside some of the best engineers in the business. They’ll help you to develop your engineering skills, whilst repairing aircraft components in both ‘ramp’ and ‘hangar’ environments. You’ll rotate through different workshops, learning different skillsets, so you understand the nature of highly sophisticated aircraft components. Every day will feel new, and you’re going to be busy. As well as training on the job, you’ll be studying for the qualifications you need to become one of our future Workshop Engineers.
The initial induction to the business for this Apprenticeship will take place at our London Heathrow Base. For the remainder of the first year, this Apprenticeship will then be based at Kingston College, where you will study towards a Foundation qualification (Level 2) Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
For years two and three, you will work towards the completion of your Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) as a Workshop Mechanic, obtaining a BTEC Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and a Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, where you will undertake placements at British Airways Heathrow base
We will also supplement your learning with additional Aircraft related training in Air Legislation, Human Factors and Aircraft Composite repairs.
About You
We are looking for a minimum of five GCSE grades 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent which must include Science, English & Maths (we accept predicted grades but they must be achieved by the apprenticeship start date). A strong communicator with an awareness for safety, a self-starter and the ability to adapt to change. Above all, a genuine passion for engineering.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering.
- BTEC Level 3 in Engineering.

Timelines for this recruitment process

Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) obsesses over customers by offering a white glove service where we deliver TVs, Domestic Appliances and other large items like furniture in customers’ homes. Not only do we deliver large parcels, we unpack, assemble, install and sometimes even do tests, hauling away old items as needed. We are currently in the process of building out a network that is poised for big growth in the coming years. We are building a dedicated network across fulfillment, delivery and services and are adding more specialized fulfillment centers and delivery stations across EU.
EU AMXL Operations team is looking for an outstandingly talented, analytical, driven, EU Transportation Manager. You will play a key role in developing a leadership position for Amazon XL, by managing the long-term relationship between Amazon and our transportation partners. You will also be accountable for dealing with challenging operations issues that will require a deep analysis of our distribution understanding of our network. In this context, you will be dealing on a regular basis with our carriers and internal stakeholders all over Europe. You will also be supporting and designing AMXL delivery experience in countries where Amazon does not yet deliveries Extra Large products.
This is a highly visible position critical to the AMXL’s operations and forward capability as we continue the fast-paced growth and scale-up of our delivery network. It is a unique opportunity to work in different logistic environment all over Europe.
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Execute performance management metrics reviews (cost, speed, quality, etc.) for in-home delivery service and derive develop improvement plans from it
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives with carriers, fulfillment centers, customer service and Retail teams to improve customer experience, costs and processes
- Prepare and lead Ops calls, business reviews, workshops with third party Carriers
- Advises Amazon leadership team proactively of critical situations along with the expected impact and mitigation actions planned
- Produce and communicate transport plans/forecasts on a regular basis
- Manages Transportation related escalations
