About the role

This is a 6 month contract , based upon working a minimum of 25 hours per week. The attraction is open daily and so flexibility will be needed with shifts including weekends, bank holidays and peak seasons.

Daily duties will include supervising our Rock Pool, leading our outstanding Behind the Scenes Tours and our immersive in-house site-specific shows, pioneering one to one personal experiences so that every guest can leave saying that they learnt something amazing.

The role will require you to wear a costume and so you’ll need to be comfortable being able to entertain our guests whilst in character.

Please note that this is not an Aquarist role and whilst we do work alongside some animals, we do not take any responsibility for animal husbandry.

To succeed in this role you will have,

  • Previous performing experience, along with heaps of stamina and the ability to maintain an infectious energy to interact with guests daily and perform shows on a rotational basis.
  • A genuine interest and passion for marine life and be prepared to do your homework, learning lots of information and scripts.
  • The confidence to deliver fun and engaging, interactive, educational, and family focused shows in character whilst wearing a costume.

We’re a close-knit team, and so we’ll need you to be a reliable teammate, who is also confident to work alone when needed.

Ultimately, we are looking for guest obsessed individuals that are willing to consistently deliver a service that goes above and beyond!

Ready for the challenge? Then dive in and apply today!

What can we offer you?

  • An hourly rate of £10.65 paid fortnightly
  • Discounts at all our attractions on food and retail
  • 40% online LEGO discount
  • Access to a best-in-class employee discount website, with deals on hotels, phones and much more!
  • Merlin Magic Pass – allowing your friends and family free entry into our attractions worldwide!

Perhaps the biggest benefits of joining us, however, are the outstanding opportunities for career development across the rapidly growing group.

We strive to create an inclusive and diverse workplace where people can be themselves, have the same opportunities and thrive together. Because at Merlin, everyone matters!
